NH35 vs 8285.
Every Eximius watch is built around one of two automatic movements. Both were chosen for reliability rather than for being the cheapest thing available.
Two movements, two lines
The NH35 sits inside Date Only and Riviera builds. The 8285 sits inside Mayfair builds. That's the whole range — there's no third option quietly substituted depending on supply.
The NH35
An automatic (self-winding) movement that also takes manual hand-winding, with a hacking seconds hand — pull the crown out and the seconds stop, so you can set the time to the second rather than to the nearest minute.
It runs 24 jewels and holds roughly a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound. It's one of the most widely used and thoroughly proven workhorse automatics in the world, which is exactly why it's the base of the Date Only and Riviera lines: parts are available, it's easy to regulate, and it keeps going.
The 8285
An automatic movement built specifically to run a day-date complication, so the dial shows the day of the week alongside the date rather than the date alone.
That second complication is what gives the Mayfair line its dressier, more classic character — a slightly busier dial, and a watch that tells you a little more at a glance.

Dials and hands
Each movement family has dial and hand sets we recommend together, and those are what the builder offers. Which dials and hands are available depends on the case you choose, and the builder only shows combinations that genuinely fit. Dials and hands cost nothing extra, apart from the "I'm Already Late" dial, which adds £10. The builder questions in our FAQ go into that in more detail.
